Corporate parking can get complicated. Everyone tends to rush in and out at the same time, which can make finding parking stressful. Add in a corporate environment with three eight hour shifts with large influxes of employees, and things can get that much more complicated. But for one large corporation, parking is a pleasure, despite 3 hectic shifts.

With so many people coming and going, the company parking lots saw a lot of congestion during peak times. They were looking for a parking guidance system to help people park faster, eliminate the safety concerns of unnecessary traffic, and avoid the pollution caused by congestion.
A typical hardwired parking guidance system wasn’t feasible because of the physical distance between the different parking lots.
Smarter, Simpler Parking
Boston Scientific decided to try the OpenSpace parking counting system to keep track of available parking spots in each of the 6 different parking zones. The wireless system gathers data and can share it in real time in a variety of ways. At this campus, they decided to post a parking sign at the main entrance to the campus so that drivers see availability data right as they get to work. An individual parking sign listing availability at each lot was also placed at each entrance so drivers could make better informed decisions about where to look for parking.
The OpenSpace system also offers access to a wealth of parking data and statistics, something Boston Scientific staff found invaluable in planning and managing parking resources. The robust API integration also offers the option to share parking data right on the company website or on parking apps.
